In 1945, the Chicago St. Paul Minneapolis & Omaha received 400 box cars from American Car & Foundry's Madison, IL plant. They were copies of the 1944 AAR design with a 10'6" IH, 4/4 Improved Dreadnaught ends, Murphy panel roofs, Youngstown corrugated (1st 200 cars) and Superior (2nd 200 cars) doors and ASF A-3 trucks. They differed slightly through the use of Duryea Cushion Underframes. The cars were numbered 37500-38298, using only even numbers, a standard CNW/CMO practice.
