Soph Marty Photo

In 1945, Magor Car Corp. delivered one hundred 1937 AAR Box Cars to the Florida East Coast Railway. Fifty (Nos. 21001-21050, Lot W-743) were built for freight service and fifty (Nos. 601-650, Lot W-744) for express, head end service. Both groups of cars received Youngstown doors, Murphy panel roofs, 4/5 'W' corner Dreadnaught ends, wood running boards and Universal geared hand brakes. The express cars received express trucks. The Soph Marty photo above was taken in 1961, when these cars were being painted in a blue scheme, as opposed to the box car red delivery scheme. However, the lettering is almost exactly as delivered.
