Sirman Collection
The Frisco was the recipient of the largest block of USRA 40-ton double sheathed box cars, totaling 3,500 cars from many builders. The cars served largely unchanged until the Frisco began a rebuilding program in the late 1930's at its Springfield, MO shops. The rebuilds had an IH of 9'1" and retained the original 5/5/5 Murphy ends and Murphy XLA roof. Eight panel steel sides were applied along with Camel corrugated doors and AB brakes. In excess of 2,300 cars were rebuilt. The number series remained unchanged.
