Marklin to Produce Union Pacific B-50-24
H-70-1 and CA-3/CA-4 in HO Scale
March 14, 2002

Marklin has announced three prototypes of great importance to HO Scale Union Pacific modelers: the B-50-24 Box cars, the H-70-1 Hoppers and the CA-3/CA-4 Cabooses. The box cars represent a welcome addition for all modelers, as the UP constructed many cars to this design, that had the rare Alternate Center Rivet construction along with welded underframe and has not been produced in styrene by any manufacturer to date. The UP built 1,200 B-50-24's for itself plus an additional 700 for its OWR&N subsidiary. In addition, these models could be used to quite accurately represent the UP's B-50-22, -23 and -27 classes as well, representing an additional 800 UP cars plus 500 cars of the subsidiary OSL and another 300 cars for the OWR&N.

All three models will come with separate details, including running boards, grabs and ladders. All cars are being tooled from actual UP General Arrangement drawings.
